Santiago Airport was privatised by the Government of Chile under a long-term concession with the objective of developing new terminal and apron infrastructure. The concession attracted a large number of blue chip international bidders including our client. We acted as traffic advisor to the client throughout the transaction.
Our primary role was the development of an extensive suite of 40 year annual and secondary air traffic forecasts (passengers, movements, cargo), along with an analysis of the passenger and airline market at Santiago. This included an in-depth assessment of the prospects for low-cost carrier development in the country, along with local themes such as macroeconomic growth in Chile, competition from other modes, the prospects for developing the airport further as a connecting hub, and tourism trends.
Our role also included extensive interaction with lenders and their advisors.
Our forecasts were an important part of the inputs used in the client’s bid model, which in turn was a key element in their successful acquisition of the airport.
