The MegaPlaza Shopping Center, located in the north of the city of Lima, is one of the foremost large-scale developments in the city, with a wide range of commercial offerings. Each of the buildings and uses of the project are clearly differentiated according to their type and have an excellent vehicular and pedestrian interconnection, among which the parking tower called Deck stands out. This building has six levels, all of which are dedicated to parking areas.
Steer was commissioned by Inmuebles Panamericana to carry out the operational analysis of new developments, focusing on the changes planned for the parking lot in the Deck area and its immediate interaction with the access roads. The study's objective was to identify the elements or aspects of improvement in its operation that would allow for optimisation and validation of its operation.
In this framework, together with the project's architectural team, Steer carried out a complete characterization of the current operation and the impact of the proposed changes. As a result, qualitative evaluations, recommendations and guidelines were generated in the different aspects of the operational analysis, including ramp and access study, manoeuvrability calculation for light and cargo vehicles, analysis of the system's capacity and its access barriers, proposal for optimization of quotas, movements and traffic directions; and a signage guide focused on safe vehicular traffic.
