Southampton City Council’s LSTF programme included the development of station travel plans for eight stations across the city. These station travel plans aimed to improve access to the stations by sustainable methods of travel.
The travel plan process adopted by Steer included:
- detailed site assessments considering the quality of the environment around each station and its connectivity to the local surroundings;
- analysis of existing travel survey data;
- workshops with local residents and other local community stakeholders to consider measures which would best meet local challenges; and
- development of travel plan targets.
We set up a working group of key stakeholders including Southampton City Council, Stagecoach and the Community Rail Partnership to agree action plans for each station.
The travel plan process resulted in the development of action plans setting measures for delivery, including identified funding sources and lead organisations to take initiatives forward.
