Oliver Russell

Oli is an Associate with over 20 years’ experience in combining the power of geospatial analytics and data visualisation. He has worked with a wide range of public and private sector clients across the UK and internationally, delivering projects across multiple modes of transport.

Oli has a great understanding of available data sources, how data gaps can be closed through the provision of commercial data sets and has helped organisations implement data management plans to ensure they have the right data for their organisation and project needs. He has worked with many of the worlds leading transport data providers from satellite navigation data, mobile phone data and market segmentation data ensuring projects have robust and reliable evidence in which to make informed decisions. A key part of this is ensuring outputs from analysis are shared in engaging and intuitive data visualisation products that aid the narrative and bring meaning to complex data. 

Since joining Steer, he has led high-profile projects covering sports and major events, urban planning, transport policy and strategy, major infrastructure projects and shared mobility. All of these projects require a deep understanding of location data to better understand local context, require an evidence base to inform decision making and geospatial analytics help us to understand patterns in data. Oli combines both technical skills with transport domain expertise to ensure our data driven solutions are fit for purpose.
